Pramod Mahajan Case Verdict Likely on Dec 17

Mumbai, Dec 15 (mb): The sessions court is likely to deliver its judgement in the Pramod Mahajan murder trial on December 17.

Additional sessions judge tried Mahajan's younger brother Pravin for allegedly firing bullets at the BJP leader on April 22, 2006, at the late BJP leader's Worli residence.

Pravin Mahajan has been charged with section 302 (murder) and 449 (house trespass).

Pramod Mahajan, who was in hospital from April 22, 2006, succumbed to his injuries twelve days later.

The police filed a 650-page chargesheet before a metropolitan court on July 14 last year. A list of 58 witnesses was given by the prosecution before the trial began.

The prosecution, however, examined 32 witnesses, including Pramod's widow Rekha, daughter Poonam, sister Pradnya and brother-in-law Gopinah Munde while defence examined Pravin as a witness on oath before the court apart from his wife Sarangi and a computer expert.

Judge Davare began dictating the judgement from December six and is likely to pronounce the judgement on Monday.
