President congratulates Paralympics silver winner Deepa Malik


New Delhi, Sep 13 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday congratulated Deepa Malik, who scripted history by winning a silver medal in shot put at the 2016 Rio Paralympics Games, saying her success is a "matter of great pride for all Indians".

"I am delighted to know that you have won the Silver Medal in women's Shot Put F-53 event at the Rio Paralympics Games-2016," he said.

"Your success is a matter of great pride for all Indians. It will serve as an inspiration to both sportspersons as well as differently abled people of our country," he added.

"Your achievement is an example of what can be accomplished through hard work and dedication. I congratulate you and wish the very best for the future," he noted.
