Mangalore: JD(S) to Embark on Publicity Campaign in Suratkal

Mangalore, Dec13: It has been decided to hold publicity campaign from December 2007 to February 2008, in order to strengthen Janatha Dal Secular (JDS) from the grass root levels, so as to preserve and strengthen the tradition of secularism in the neighbourhood of Suratkal, Ummer Farooq, president, JD (S) Suratkal Legistlative Assembly Constituency, informed media persons at the press conference held at Hotel Woodlands here on Thursday December 13. 

The whole campaign will be executed in three phases. During the phase one, a one day camp will be held to disseminate the views, agenda and principles of the political party. At the second phase, ward and village level meetings will be held to put forth the achievements of ex-CM, HD Kumaraswamy and at the third phase, massive membership drive will be launched. About 3000 membership has been expected and at present the party has the strength of 1000, he detailed. 

Mega convention will be held at the end of February 2008, as the concluding part of the publicity campaign.  Ex-PM, HD Deve Gowda, ex-CM, HD Kumaraswamy, JD (S) state president Mirajuddin Patel, MLC, Abdul Azeem, JDS state spokesperson, MSY Dutta, ex-minister, Amarnath Shetty, district minister, Balraj Rai, and others will be present on the occasion. 

Communal violence is common and concentrated phenomenon in those places ruled by either Congress or BJP, but the same is a rare phenomenon in the places ruled by the third front, J Hussein, working president of district minority union, added. 

Kanakadas Kuloor, Ahmed Bava Baikampady, Mohammad Ali Malavoor and others were present at the press conference.
