Beef found in biryani samples, we're not against Muslims: Vij

Chandigarh, Sep 10 (PTI): Facing flak over the biryani checks in Mewat ahead of Eid, Haryana minister Anil Vij today said all seven samples were found containing beef and questioned how the Opposition which had backed the law banning cow slaughter could object to its implementation.

Insisting that the issue should not be linked to a particular community, he said, "We are not against Muslims", and added that samples can be lifted from anywhere in the state and not just Mewat to implement the law.

The minister said a proper process was followed to collect samples of biryani and test them for beef in a state laboratory.

"All seven biryani samples tested positive for beef. The tests were conducted at the laboratory in Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and the Animal Sciences, Hisar.

"The samples were lifted under the supervision of a veterinary surgeon. A proper procedure was followed to test them. The tests were conducted by an expert. She has submitted her report," Vij said. Lashing out at the opposition, he said they were politicising the issue.

"The government is implementing the law of the land and the move should not be linked to any particular community or religion. We are not against Muslims," he said.

"We enacted a law. Congress and all other parties also passed it. Now, if we take any action to protect that law, they try to rake up a controversy," he alleged.

"The opposition parties want to politicise the issue, which is very wrong...They are trying to disturb peace and brotherhood for their vested interests," the Health Minister alleged.

Vij was reacting to the remarks of Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala who had yesterday alleged that the whole controversy "being generated" over beef in Mewat reflected "a sinister conspiracy" to target and persecute people belonging to a particular religion.

"Now, another controversy being raked is that the presence of beef cannot be confirmed in samples of cooked food. This is wrong. It takes time. There is different method for testing cooked food samples," the Minister said.

"The samples were collected based on specific inputs. It is not Mewat in particular, we can lift samples from anywhere if there is suspicion," he said.

The state government had last year enacted the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gau Samvardhan Act, making cow slaughter punishable with rigorous imprisonment up to 10 years and a fine of Rs 1 lakh.

Please do not discriminate. Stay guard on all non-veg eateries/hotels and mark how many vegetarians dine there.

I say this because today they invaded into the meals of one community, they dared to invade a person's food-privacy. Tomorrow they may come into each and every house and take a sample.

So, are some sections of Indians entitled to govern the rest ? What happens when they themselves involve in killing the very animal and selling the meat ? I.e. Al-Kabeer !

Beef which has been food to so many, nearly 25-30% people of this country, may be more also.
It's not easy to give up the food that's was fascinating to many.
There was no restriction on this food' before so sudden change of diet is quite not possible.
Moreover now it's like forbidden fruit is more tastier!
Ban has economical considerations for Cattle breeders, farmers, traders, , leather business, meat retailers and finally consumers.
In a starving Country, Feeding Cattle is going to be a big burden to Govt.
I foresee, Beef is going to be major game changer in Indian Politics!

Winston Churchill rightly said that if Independence is given to Indians, power will go into the hands os rogues and thugs and a day will come when even water and air will be taxed!. Now we have gone beyond the wildest fear of Churchill and the rogues in government are telling what people should eat and not!!!. I think Churchill could foresee the coming of Modi government in India!!!. Terrible double faced government! Shows one thing and does exactly opposite!!!!. First time in Independent India lies are being passed are God truths through the gross misuse of social media!.

India has become a laughing stock in the international news due to this kind of news, are we going back to stone era. In that case let them ban killing of all animals and impose vegetarian society, Moreover, there is hypocrisy, if India was a pure Hindu country and people were eating beef, it would not have been an issue in the eyes of low standard politicians who have no qualification other than ignorant people's votes.

People creating a hysteria about the beef. They are acting as if the beef contains some salmonella poisoning. If you don't like to eat beef or drink alcohol, don't do it. But you cannot legislate already existed eating habits. Learn a lesson from the prohibition. If 300 million Dalits eat beef which is their main source of protein, do we have enough place in jail to accommodate them?

There is so much news on Beef meat in last 27 months, looks like this is only issue many are concerned about in the country.

This sample testing (which is questionable unless sample collection and proper evidence preservation for possible food infiltration steps were checked and followed) shows Modi was right for at least once. Modi said so called Cow Mata protectors are involved in non-law compliance activities.

Modi will not make such statement without having some proof and verified lead from his government intelligence.

It is very difficult to implement some laws and in such situation, there are people who always utilize their extra skills to make some money based on demand of forbidden items, be it Beef like imitated food, Liquor or gold coins to make extra money.

Only when we stop beef export from India and support taking care of aged cows, proper Beef Ban law in any part of the country can be implemented.

Currently, Supreme Court has not fully reviewed and completed the Beef Ban law of Maharashtra State. Once this is complete, there is proper direction what is right and what is wrong related to Cow slaughter and sale of meat to consumers, where and when applicable.

When BJP took several corers of donations as reported in news from Beef exporters, it is ok and makes sense to many Bakhts who vehemently support and have no idea of actual ground situation or extent of Beef export from India.

Question 1. What guarantee is there the person who collected the samples added the beef?
Question 2. Did the Laboratory got their sample in sealed bag with court official signed & stamped?
Question 3. When they collected the samples the law department had any spare samples?
Question4. Do they took signature of the sellers and stamped the samples front of the sellers with witness?

All these questions need to be answered by the Minister if not it is cheating or going against Muslims.

sri, you are not concerned about implementation of anti-rape laws in the country!, you are not concerned about implementation of anti-corruption laws in the country!, you are not concerned about providing clean drinking water, good roads, sanitation etc in the country!!!, you are only concerned about cow laws!!!. This clearly shows what is the priority of Indians vis a vis world!!!. Secondly, how come gau seva dal could or for that matter anyone else could collect food samples when there is a specific agency called FDA!!!???. Even FDA is mandated to check food for hazardous and unhygienic methods and not for anything that is edible and perfect for consumption!!!. So what Haryana has done is illegal!!!
