Mumbai, Dec 11: The valedictory of Kala-Krida Mahotsav, sports/cultural festival of Navghar-Manikpur municipality was held on Tuesday December 11.

Hitendra Takur, MLA of the region was the chief guest. Other prominent guests were Nawal Bajaj, police superintendent, Sandeep Kulkarni, film actor and Shradda Gavankar, chairman, municipality.

Hitendra Takur expressed his happiness over the children playing the games of the country like Kabaddi, Kho-Kho etc. Such games give more exercise and require small ground rather than the popular games like cricket, he said.

The current Manikpur playground used to be filled with water till recently, but because of his efforts now the ground is repaired and given open for the children to play. He also promised to construct a large ground at Ambadi Road soon.

Prizes were distributed for the winners of various sports, games and cultural competitions.

The competitions held in sports/games events were athletics, body building, karate, taikwando, pumse , table-tennis, badminton, chess, carom, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball , throwball and Langadi for the age groups of 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 18, 20 years and open category.

The competitions held in cultural events were poetry, singing, story telling, classical dance, drawing, craft, elocution, sugam sangeet, acting, essay writing, rangawali, fancy dress, salad decoration, cookery, flower arrangement, mehendi, one act play, folk dance, debate, miming, group fashion show and Bhajan  for the age groups of 6, 9,  12, 15 years and open category.

Various Schools from the city participated in the events.
