Mangalore: Former President APJ Abdul Kalam visits SDM Law College

Mangalore, Dec 10: Former President APJ Abdul Kalam paid a brief visit to SDM Law College here on Monday December 10. 

He had left for Shri Kshetra Manjunatheshwara located at Dharmasthala after inaugurating Fr Muller Oncology Centre at Fr Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH) on Sunday December 9 afternoon, along with B K Ravindra, principal of SDM Law College and Dr Devraj, principal of SDM College of Business Management. 

President was briefed by B K Ravindra and Dr Raviraj, about the educational endeavours of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) Group of Educational Institutions and significant contributions to women's empowerment by SDM Rural Development Project, under the leadership of Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala. 

Moreover, he was convinced of SDM’s yeoman service to rural populace besides contributions to educating the youth in specialized fields, Dakshina Kannada district while on his way to Bajpe Airport. 

While at SDM Law College, he visited ‘Raaga Tharanga’ a children’s musical fiesta.

Kalam in his talk on ‘Legal system for national development’ emphasized the finer points of the Indian legal system which is being reckoned as the largest democracy in the world. 

Vaishali and group led the prayer with a hymn.  B K Ravindra, principal of SDM Law College, welcomed the gathering and led Dr Kalam to the dais.  Dr Devraj proposed vote of thanks.  Vishal Samartha compered the programme.
