Ranjan Madugalle Crosses Century as Match Referee

Bangalore, Dec 8: Former Sri Lanka captain Ranjan Madugalle on Saturday became the first International Cricket Council (ICC) Match Referee to officiate in 100 Test matches during the third and final Test between India and Pakistan at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Madugalle has also officiated as match referee in 209 ODIs and he has now become the first to complete the double of 100 Tests and 200 ODIs.

Former West Indies skipper Clive Lloyd comes a far second with 53 Tests as match referee.

The 48-year-old Madugalle, who began his career as match referee in 1993, had played 21 Tests between 1982 and 1988 and 63 ODIs between 1979 and 1988.
