Mangalore, Dec 4: The sun was setting on Arabian Sea at coastal district. Meanwhile, a priest began singing at Kankanady bus stand. The priest was none other than Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator of Fr Muller Medical College (FMMC).

He continued the song “Manavaru, Ati Manavaru… Tappu Maduvaru… (Human beings commit mistake),” written by a well known poet Dr Na Damodar Shetty. The people gathered round him were listening to him with awe.

This scene was enacted during the street play held at Kankanady bus stand, to create AIDS awareness by Fr Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH) on Monday, December 3. The nursing students of FMMCH performed a street play on this occasion.

Earlier, a stage programme was held at FMMCH campus, in which former Mayor Judith Mascarenhas delivered the AIDS awareness message. She expressed her happiness over the recent news that medicine will be invented within 3 years, to cure or curb the dreadful disease.  Meanwhile, she recalled the late Veenadhari, the crusader of human dignity to Aids victims.

Fr Francis Monteiro and Sr Flora were present on this occasion. Joseph George welcomed the gathering. Jasmine Vaz proposed vote of thanks. Irene Alvares compered the programme.
