Modi government serious 'threat' to democracy: AAP

New Delhi, Aug 6 (IANS): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday said that the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become a "threat to the democratic and federal structure of the country".

"The examples of Delhi, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and very recently of Puducherry show that Modiji has no faith in democracy and the federal structure of the country," AAP leader Sanjay Singh said.

"He (Narendra Modi) wants to run the government by force," he added.

He also demanded that Parliament should discuss the issue of the misuse of post of Governors and Lt. Governors on an urgent basis.

"The Parliament should discuss the issue and make a strong law so that the posts of Governor and Lt. Governor are not misused to topple any elected government," Singh said.

He also attacked Puducherry Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi for interfering in the functioning of the elected government of the Union Territory.

"She (Kiran Bedi) is giving orders on WhatsApp, summoning the officers and instructing them to follow her orders. She is behaving in the same manner as Najeeb Jung (Delhi Lt. Governor)," he said.
