BEST Driver Held for Mowing Down Pedestrian

Mumbai, Nov 28 (mb): A BEST bus driver was arrested for allegedly mowing down a pedestrian following rash and negligent driving in a north west suburb here, police said on Tuesday.

Shahaji Maruti Sawant (44) was arrested for allegedly running over a forty-three-year old businessman Nelson Fultade last evening, they said.

Sawant was driving a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus of route number 311 near the Vakola Masjid when it hit Fultade, they said.

In a similar instance, another BEST driver Lakshman Kakade was arrested by the city police for allegedly running over a 43-year old carpenter in suburban Andheri on Friday.
