Mumbai, Oct 27:
The UKAS Moody- International, an ISO certification company of UK and Australia, has awarded ISO – 9001-2000 Certificate to a renowned Royal Maharashtrian Restobar Diva Maharashtracha.

The aim was to prepare authentic Maharashtrian vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes of sea food & exotic Marathi-cuisine specialty from Maharashtra under WHO hygienic standards and serving them in Diva Maharashtracha Restobar with modernity and traditional grace.

To receive ISO – 9001-2000, Diva Maharashtracha Restobar had to observe certain norms. A special care is expected to be taken while preserving, cooking and serving food items and other eatables and beverages.

Every employee concerned with the cooking and serving needs has to wash their hands with disinfectants at a regular interval. Their personal hygiene should be of top quality. Water needs to be of WHO standards. This is a normal practice for “Diva Maharashtracha” since it began its Goodi Padwa, New Year for Maharashtrians, on March 19, 2007.

Diva Maharashtracha was rightfully the first Maharashtrian Restrobar recipient. “Diva Maharashtracha” has also been featured on Fox TV, Discovery Channel and rated 5 Stars by CNN-IBN. It has also won Best Restaurant Award by Times.

Diva Maharashtracha Restobar is trying to explode the myth that “Maharashtrian food is only Vada Pav, Misal Pav and Zunka Bhakar” and by introducing more than 200 vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes from Maharashtra.

This is the first time that traditional home-made Maharashtrian food from various regions and communities from 32 districts of Maharashtra are available in ‘Diva Maharashtracha’, a commercial establishment and institution.

The ISO certification was achieved by master chef Deepa Awchat, CEO, by researching for 3 years, as this cuisine was never in celebraty list owing to lack of cooks, books, data and Maharashtrian eateries.

Diva Maharashtracha Restobar’s ambience is like a Peshwa Palace with colourful chandeliers, warily paintings. Guests are welcomed with Tutari (trumpet) salute. The multi-faceted proprietors Dr Suhas Awchat and master chef Deepa Awchat own two other globally renowned Restobars -- Goa Portuguesa and Culture Curry. All are featured in the New York Times, Lonely Planet, BBC etc. The parts of the profits are donated to “Muktangan” a charitable Institute.
