Golden Jubilee of Goregaon Karnataka Sangh held

Mumbai, Oct 22: The special programme to mark the golden jubilee celebration of Karnataka Sangh, Goregaon was held recently at Durgadevi Saraf auditorium, located at S V Road, Malad here.

Balakrishna P Bhandary, managing director of Bhagiratha Chemicals inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.  The programme was presided over by Haridas Ambatanaya Mudrady, eminent litterateur and artiste.

Shanker M Patil delivered the lecture on literary splendour.  Dr Kabbinale Vasant Bharadwaj delivered lecture on Kannada literary glory while Dr Santosh Shetty delivered lecture on splendour of Kannada arts.

The stage programme was presided over by Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty, founder of Shreejayakrishna Parisara Premi Samiti.  Fine Chemical Industries' CMD K Bhojaraj was the chief guest.  Virar Shankar Shetty, president of Virar Nallasopara Karnataka Sangh was the guest of honour.

A S Navada Yakshagana award was presented to H B L Rao, past president of Karnataka Sahitya Parishat Maharastra unit.

Surendra S Salian, president of Karnataka Sangh Goregaon, Vidhya Deshpande, joint secretary were also present.

Scholarship to talented students and prizes to the students studying in Kannada medium of Municipality school was presented by the dignitaries.

Laxmi R Shetty, secretary welcomed.  Vidhya Deshpande, joint secretary compered the programme and proposed vote of thanks.

Yakshagana and various entertainment programmes were held on the occasion.
