Heat wave forces early summer vacations in Lucknow schools

Lucknow, April 30 (IANS): With the mercury touching 43-44 degrees Celsius for the past week, the Lucknow district administration on Saturday announced advancing the summer break in all city schools.

District Magistrate of Lucknow, Raj Shekhar said that classes Nursery to 8th will close from May 6 instead of May 13.

For classes 9th to 12th, the schools will close for the summer break from May 20.

The DM however said that for senior classes where exams are underway, schools will be allowed to remain open till May 27.

The intense heat wave condition has forced parents to petition the district magistrate for early closure of schools.

For the next one week before the summer break the school timings have also been changed to 7 a.m. (opening) to 11 a.m. (closure).
