  • Youngsters use Navrarti as an excuse to go clubbing; nightclubs say the crowd on these nights surpasses the crowd on Saturday nights

Mumbai, Oct 15: Are you sure your child goes out at night during Navratri only to play dandiya? Don’t be so sure, say DJs and nightclub managers. According to them, many youngsters use Navratri as an excuse to go clubbing.

In fact, they claim, the crowd during Navratri even surpasses the crowd at pubs and discotheques on Saturday nights.

Saahil Meghnani, a London-based DJ who has played at Ra in Phoenix Mills and Enigma in JW Marriott, said, “I have played in several clubs in Mumbai and have seen that they are crowded the most during Navratri.

They must find Navratri the best excuse to use to go clubbing if their parents don’t allow them to do so otherwise.”

Vickey, a DJ from Rock Bottom, Juhu, said, “Where there are about 200 people here on normal Saturdays, the crowd increases to 600-700 during Navratri. Most of the crowd is college-going kids.”

Rajesh Sonawne, manager of Madness, Khar, said, “Yes, the crowd is more during Navratri. May be it serves as a good excuse for the younger lot.”

Rehan Sayyed (19), a Rizvi College student, said, “Yes, I have used Navratri as an excuse to go to pubs with friends many times, as my mother doesn’t like me going to pubs.”

Kalpesh Soni, a resident of Kandivli, said, “During my college days, I too did this. I used to say I was going for garba and went to a pub with my friends instead.”
