Sullia: Frustrated over power cuts, man lambasts DKS, arrested

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Mar 1: A resident of Bellare in the taluk has been arrested for allegedly using abusive words against state energy minister D K Shivakumar.

The accused has been identified as Giridhar Rai, a resident of Bellare here, and former president of Ballare traders' union.

It is said that Giridhar had made a phone call to minister Shivakumar, frustrated over unscheduled power cuts in his area. Despite several tries he got no response, and when finally the minister did answer, Giridhar expressed anger at the power situation in his area.

Giridhar reportedly got engaged in a verbal duel with the minister. It is said that he used derogatory words against the minister during this conversation.

Minister Shivakumar then disconnected the call and informed the town police in Sullia.

The police swung into action and visited Giridhar's house to arrest him, but he refused to open the door, sources said. The police personnel then forced the door open and arrested him.

Giridhar was produced in the court on Monday February 29 and remanded in judicial custody.

What a sycophancy by congress. At one end they support anti nationals who raise slogans against the country saying there is nothing wrong in it and the other scenario is to arrest a common man who questioned the minister about the erratic power supply. confused congress .

    Giridhar Rai
You have done the right thing by using the language, which the Minister understands. Majority of politicians, irrespective of party are the same.

When DKS context election next time, please use the same language. That time, he will not only lick you like a female dog, and I won't be surprised, he may touch your feet.

    Shameless politicians.

He is a servant of the people. Now he thinks, people are his servants. Arrogance to the core.

The so called power minister first understand that he is a public servant..He should have tackled this more sensitively..he would have send any division engineer to give an advice to Mr Rai...Now he acted like Goonda raj...He should first understand that..all Bangalore/Mandya/Mysore/Hassan 80% power goes from our dist..the UPCL 400 KV line ..but our twin dist is in whole dark...where is our MP Nalin Kateel,Shoba..or our all MLAs...?? they all oppose the power minister act in Assembly/Parliament...Whole Dkites should tell the Power minister that ,they are all with our brother Mr Rai

Anybody will get frustrated over power cuts in most parts in India. The ministers are least bothered about such vital issues. Giridhar Rai is partly right in his action as the state energy minister D K Shivakumar did not respond to his calls on this power cut issue. Only those affected by this regular power cut, know what they are going through, especially during summer.

UPCL Padubidri line is passing over Sullia. Why DK and Udupi is suffering from power cut?. If this power is to be supplied to the industries out of our boundary districts...then why the Govt. built this power plant near to our soil...they should have built near the industrial hub where it is getting supplied or used.
Good that this man made the minister to feel the heat of locals.

    Just compare the incident with:
When Kerala student writes to Mr. Modi about road conditions and quick action being taken.
Leaders should listen and serve the citizens. But here the complainant used abusive language and that too with a Minister. I do not think such attitude is right with a civilized person.
He could have spoken or complained electricity board or responsible person.
It is nothing but reaction to wrong action. May be Shivkumar had few extra pegs and he could not resist internal heat and external frustrations.

Abusive language could be mental sickness due to frustration. with proper investigation the authorities can let him go with a warning if he is not harm to anyone. The babus must think that, if not one the telephone - people are getting frustrated on their lackslidal work.

    TO ALL DONGIES…

WHEN AN INDIVIDUAL APPROACHED COURT AND COURT DIRECTED POLICE TO BOOK THE SEDITION CASE ON PAPPU, MANY OF YOU TERMED IT AS “EMERGENCY SITUATION”.

NOW WHEN AN COMMON MAN APPROACHED MINISTER OF HIS STATE WITH HIS PROBLEMS, HE IS BEING SENT TO JAIL.

IS THIS NOT REAL “EMERGENCY SITUATION” ? OR IS IT MENTIONED AS “ACCHE DIN” IN DONGI DICTIONARY ?

This is where the Congress VP can seize the initiative.
    1. Get the State Government to take
    corrective measures to tackle the
    'Power Problem'.
    2. Sort out this matter too ..which does not reflect well on the Government.
    3. In fact I read an article in TOI today about the Congress VP's initiative to get some import duties on paper used for 'Braille', cut so that the blind students could benefit. The photo of the Congress VP lending an ear to the plight of the blind student was indeed touching. This had taken place during his visit to Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru.
Such was his commitment that he wrote to the Commerce Minister about it and the duty cuts were announced in the budget...
We expect such things from a 'Responsible Leader'....Many such acts and who knows....??
This kind of stuff is what the younger generation is looking for...right?
