Mangalore, Aug 30:  L&T and Ramboll Consulting Engineers Ltd (RCEL) have formulated a conceptual master plan for the 300 sq km extent of Mangalore Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR), stated N Yogish Bhat chairman of Karnataka State Industrial Investment and Development Corporation Limited (KSIIDCL), addressing a press meet held here recently.

The final pre-feasibility report of the same has been cleared by the cabinet and PCPIR will now have a total land of 74,131 acres, Bhat informed. 

The establishment of MSEZ with feed stock from MRPL will be dealt in the first phase between the years 2008 to 2014 while in the second phase from the years 2015 to 2020, with a total of 28,441 acres of land being utilized. 

The region will be well established with infrastructure and will enable PCPIR to expand beyond the core hub formed by the first phase and the second phase, by the commencement of the third phase from 2021-2026 and 22,228 acres of land will be utilized in the third phase.
 
The total cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 46 billion, and the establishment of PCPIR will make DK an economic capital of the state, Bhat informed. DK will get Rs one lac crore investment with the PCPIR and will provide employment opportunity for 10 lac people over 15 years time, proudly declared Bhat.
