SC bans diesel-run SUVs to curb pollution in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 16 ( PTI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday banned registration of diesel-run SUVs and cars having engines beyond 2000 cc in Delhi and NCR from March 1, next year.

Apex court raised the Green cess by 100 per cent being levied on commercial vehicles entering the capital.

Commercial vehicles, which are not Delhi bound, will not be allowed to enter national capital through entry points NH-8 and NH-1.

Commercial vehicles registered before 2005 cannot enter Delhi and only CNG-run taxis will be allowed to ply in Delhi and NCR, says SC.

    1. Use bicycle while travelling around 5-10 kms.
    2. Walking for around 3-5 kms.
    3. Use public transport wherever possible.
    4. Govt. should ban on digging roads here and there. If necessary then should de dusting by using vacuum or similar in USA.
    5.Develop footpath with grass covered.
    6. Restrict cutting trees and encourage growing trees.
    7. Restrict on wood burning as far as possible....etc.

This move by Government as well as by the Court has to be validated properly. Why is the court restricting on something when they can actually question the state and central governments about the money they are collecting from these vehicle owners as taxes and other things. Court should question the governments about the designated green zones and the other required things to curb pollution which are proposed 10 to 15 years back. Sitting idle and eating public money is just what these politicians are doing other than what they have to do. Will Kejri government return Half of the road tax that are paid by these vehicle owners as they are not allowed to use their vehicles for half of their life time. As court questioned, what will you do if every one gets 2 cars to use on alternative days? Courts have rights to question these governments but instead they are restricting people and cant understand why. Governments should plan to ensure that future cities are planned in such a way that they were designed for larger area where everything is not concentrated at one place. A better measure to avoid Delhi pollution is to spread all government offices and large enterprises to move away from city and out of city so that only main things function inside city so that number of vehicles that ply inside the city will drastically come down and at the same time other near by cities also will improve. Even in Bangalore these government people have always neglected the green zones and now want to bring this Odd and Even formula out to cover their stupid decisions.

This is not a good solution. They should have seltd all the vehicles off the road every alternate day and must have endorsed bicycle solar driven vehicle or electric vehicle only. That should be the case?
