Honduras football ex-chief denies wrongdoing in FIFA

Mexico City, Dec 4 (IANS): Former president of the Honduras Football Association Rafael Leonardo Callejas, who was indicted by US authorities in the FIFA corruption scandals, denied any wrongdoing.

"I have nothing to do with match-fixing," Callejas said on Thursday on his alleged involvement in scandals, reports Xinhua.

Callejas added he would work relentlessly to clear his name. He was the president of the Honduras Football Association between 1990-1994.

The Honduran government on Thursday announced it had received an extradition request from the US for Callejas.

"Nobody is above the law and, for this reason, the government has told the US of our readiness to collaborate," said a government press release.
