Rajya Sabha disrupted on V.K. Singh's comments

New Delhi, Dec 4 (IANS): Rajya Sabha was disrupted on Friday over union minister and retired General V.K. Singh's comments after killing of two Dalit children in Haryana, forcing a brief adjournment soon after the house met.

As soon as the house met, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati was on her feet.

"Ever since BJP led NDA government haws come in the center, in the nation, social and communal atmosphere is being disturbed," the BSP leader said.

"Sadly, instead of taking action against such people the government is protecting them. Yesterday the attitude of government on V.K. Singh is very sad," she said.

Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien said he did not have a notice on the issue from the member and asked her to submit a notice.

BSP members, who had created a ruckus in the house on the issue on Thursday as well forcing several adjournments, then trooped near the chairman's podium and started raising slogans against the government.

Amidst the din, the house was adjourned for 15 minutes.
