5.3-magnitude earthquake hits off Taiwan coast


Taipei, Dec 4 (IANS): A 5.3-magnitude earthquake jolted the waters along the east coast of Taiwan on Thursday evening, the island's weather and earthquake monitoring agency said.

The epicenter was monitored at 22.58 degrees north latitude and 121.44 degrees east longitude, about 35 km away from the Taitung county in southeast Taiwan, Xinhua quoted the monitoring agency as saying.
