After Malaysia, PM Modi in Singapore on a 2-Day Visit

Singapore, Nov 23 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Singapore today on the second and last leg of his four-day visit to southeast Asia.

He is scheduled to deliver the 37th Singapore Lecture on 'India's Singapore Story' later in the evening.

Organised by the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISAS), the Singapore Lecture is one of the intellectual highlights of the city state.

"It is designed to provide an opportunity for distinguished statesmen and leaders of thought and knowledge to reach a wider audience in Singapore," the ISAS website stated.

Earlier on Monday, PM Modi held bilateral talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, following which a joint statement was issued by the two countries.

PM Modi and his Malaysian counterpart also jointly inaugurated a Torana Gate, a traditional gateway to Hindu and Buddhist temples, at Bricksfield locality in Kuala Lumpur, also known as Little India.

PM Modi, who arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, attended the 13th ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations)-India Summit and the 10th East Asia Summit.

He also held bilateral meetings with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the summits.
