Defender Luiz reluctant to play for Paris club after attacks

Buenos Aires, Nov 15 (IANS): Paris Saint-Germain star defender David Luiz on Sunday said he does not want to return to his football club following the terror attacks that claimed 129 lives in the French capital.

Brazilian international Luiz is scheduled to return to Paris after his country's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Peru on Tuesday. But the 50-million pound defender who signed from Chelsea is hesitant about returning with fears over the safety of his family and friends in Paris.

"I have my girlfriend and some family and friends in Paris. They were all very sad and scared. I don't know what I'm going to do and whether I will head back (to Paris)," Luiz was quoted as saying by dailymail.co.uk.

"Playing for PSG is my job but if it were up to me, then I would not go back," the 28-year-old added.

Luiz, 28, was sent off in the late stages of Brazil's 1-1 draw with Argentina on Friday night, having stood for a minute's silence devoted to the Paris catastrophe before kick-off.

PSG return to Ligue 1 action against FC Lorient on November 21 before an European Champions League clash in Malmo four days later. The Ligue 1 leaders' next home game is against Troyes on November 28.
