Mangalore, Aug 11: A nationwide protest will be staged by the CPI (M), demanding the BPL cards and ration distribution system, from Thursday August 16 to Thursday August 30, said K R Shriyan, secretary of CPI (M) Dakshina Kannada district Committee, in a press conference here on Saturday August 11.

The UPA government at the centre has totally failed to fulfil its pre-election promises, and the government of Karnataka is also no exception, as the state is experiencing the irregularities in the connection with BPL Cards and ration distribution system, he stated.

He also alleged that the union and state governments have failed to provide a solution to the suicides of the farmers.

Because of the influence of the bus lobby, the introduction of passenger train between Bangalore and Mangalore has been delayed. To resume the train service immediately, ‘Rail Roko’ agitation will be held on Tuesday August 14 at 12 pm at Mangalore railway station, he informed.

B Madhava, CPI (M) leader, said that the nuke agreement would affect the sovereignty, and hence it should be discussed in the parliament, and ‘Anthyodaya’ scheme should be made available to all the deserved families. This will also be in the serious consideration at the time of nation wide protest, he added

Vasant Achari was also present at the press meet.
