Himachal's Keylong experiences season's coldest night


Shimla, Oct 28 (IANS): Cold conditions intensified in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday as Keylong town experienced its coldest night of the season, with the minimum temperature staying below freezing point, an official said here.

Keylong, the headquarters of the Lahaul-Spiti district, was the coldest place in the state with a minimum temperature of minus 1.6 degrees Celsius.

The state capital, which saw a mild spell of rain in the morning, recorded a minimum of 8.2 degrees Celsius.

While Kalpa in Kinnaur district witnessed a low of 2.4 degrees, the minimum temperature was 3 degrees in the picturesque tourist resort of Manali and 14.6 degrees in Dharamsala, a Met department official told IANS.

Kandaghat in Solan district was wettest place in the state as it received 14 mm of rain, followed by Nahan in Sirmaur district.

He, however, said the weather would remain dry for the next few days.
