Yogendra Yadav meets Akhilesh, discusses farmers' condition


Lucknow, Oct 28 (IANS): Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav on Tuesday met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and discussed the condition of farmers and the crisis emanating out of scanty rainfall this year.

Yogendra Yadav who is on a nationwide tour to assess the crop loss and the condition of farmers made some suggestions to the chief minister and was told in response that they will receive serious and positive consideration of the state government.

The chief minister also thanked him for his efforts with regards to farmers welfare, and informed him of various measures by his government for the welfare of farmers like prompt and adequate compensation to those whose crops were damaged earlier this year due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm, free irrigation facilities, and increase of accidental insurance from Rs.1 lakh to Rs.5 lakh.
