Liberian Musa Bility announces FIFA presidency bid

Monrovia, Oct 27 (IANS): Liberia football association president Musa Bility has officially submitted his candidacy for the FIFA presidential election to be held in an extraordinary congress on February 26, 2016.

Bility confirmed to the BBC that he submitted his application on Monday, which was the deadline for applicants to formalise their nominations to the FIFA general secretariat with the support of at least five member associations, Efe reported.

After that the election committee must validate these applications and proclaim the names of the candidates to succeed Swiss Sepp Blatter, president of FIFA since 1998 and now temporarily suspended.

Also on Monday, the president of the Asian Football Confederation Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa confirmed having completed the process, with Prince Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan, French former leader of FIFA Jerome Champagne, former Trinidadian player David Nakhid and South African businessman Tokyo Sexwale all competing for the presidency.
