Aston Villa sack manager Sherwood

London, Oct 26 (IANS): English Premier League club Aston Villa have sacked Tim Sherwood as manager after eight months in charge, the media reported.

The club said in a statement on Sunday: "The board believes the results on the pitch were simply not good enough and that a change is imperative," reported Xinhua.

Villa suffered their six straight loss on Saturday (October 24) after a 2-1 defeat to Swansea, dropping to 19th in the standings.

Sherwood, who was appointed in February, led the team to the FA Cup final and the 17th-placed finish in the last season.
