Slain Japanese national buried in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Oct 13 (IANS): Japanese national Kunio Hoshi, who was gunned down on October 2 by unidentified assailants, was on Tuesday buried in Bangladesh's Rangpur city, the media reported.

The local administration said his funeral was performed as per the Japanese embassy’s request.

“He had converted to Islam. That’s why the Japanese embassy requested the home ministry to bury him in Rangpur,” Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar told bdnews24.

Kunio was buried in Munshiparha graveyard.

Hoshi was gunned down four days after Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella was shot dead in Dhaka on September 28.

Both were shot thrice by masked assailants riding motorcycles.
