UN employee gunned down in Afghanistan


Kabul, Oct 12 (IANS): Unknown men gunned down a female employee of UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in Kandahar province on Monday, spokesman for provincial government Samim Khapalwak said.

"Unidentified men opened fire on Torpikai Alfat, UNAMA employee in Kandahar city, around 9.00 a.m. (local time) killing her on the spot," Xinhua quoted Khapalwak as saying.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.
