Mumbai, Jul 23: A jeweller was arrested for criminal negligence which is suspected to have resulted in the collapse of a six-storied building in suburban Borivali last week.

Sanjay Jain, who partly owned Vardhaman jewellers in the ground floor of the building 'Lakshmi Chaya', was arrested late on Sunday night in connection with collapse that killed 28 people, Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone XI) Makrant Ranade said.

Sanjay's brother Vinod is also shown as a wanted accused in the case, he said.

The owners of Vardhaman jewellers were suspected to have carried out major structural changes in their shops which resulted in the collapse on July 18.
