Nigeria to open taekwondo camp for Rio Olympics

Lagos, Oct 1 (IANS): Nigeria will start its taekwondo preparations for the 2016 Olympic Games in November, Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF) president George Ashiru said on Thursday.

Ashiru, who did not mention where the camp would be located, explained that an overseas training programme and camping would yield more result for the athletes, reports Xinhua.

"We hope to be at an international tournament by November in Morocco, where the Olympics qualifying tournament for Africa will take place," he said.

"As soon as they come back, there are some other local tournaments in Nigeria which they will participate in. They will then move out again early next year for another tournament for final warming up towards the Olympics trials," Ashiru added.
