Mumbai, Jul 17: In recognition of his contribution to the society, M N Karkera, working president of the Chembur local committee of Billawar Association, Mumbai, has been appointed special executive magistrate (SEM) by the government of Maharashtra.
Originally hailing from Bantwal near Mangalore, Karkera has been serving in Chembur Pestom Nagar Citizens' Forum, Citizens' Organization for Public Opinion (COPO) as patron member, in Jaya Shri Krishna Parisara Premi Samiti as executive member and is the founder-member of Tilaknagar Karnataka Sangha.
