Bangalore, Jul 11: Living up to its top billing bookies' favourite Bourbon King won the King Fisher Derby Bangalore (Grade1), the plum event of the races here on Sunday July 8.

After the race, Bourbon Kings trainer S Ganapathy was presented a special memento by the Bangalore Turf Club for becoming the first from the country to saddle a winning horse (Mystical) abroad at an International racing carnival. Dr MAM Ramaswamy is the owner of Bourbon King.

The most fashionable event in the annual calendar of the city took place on Sunday.  Of course it was not a fashion show, but the Bangalore Derby where the glitterati and the cognoscenti of the city flaunt their flair in their colourful best. The favourite horse which would win the race was known to most of the crowd and if some of them did not know, it did not matter. After all the event was a mere excuse to be present and to be seen among the Who's who.
