Vigo (Spain), Sep 14 (IANS): In Spanish First Division soccer action on Sunday, Las Palmas managed to pull out a 3-3 road tie against Celta after being down by two points and a man shorthanded early on after goalkeeper Javi Varas was redcarded and ejected in the 10th minute for giving away a penalty.

The island squad didn't play well early in the match, showing no defensive intensity and clearly finding itself dominated in the first 20 minutes, and by the time it did finally began to show a little life it was already down 2-0 and missing Varas, Efe news agency reported.

Las Palmas initially used a four-defender and two-center strategy to strengthen the center against Celta's attacks, but the tactic proved disastrous and the home squad was able to exploit the huge space created between the visitors' lines with Nolito, Fabian Orellana and Iago Aspas creating a nightmare for them.

It was Orellana who got the home team on the board first at Balaidos Stadium before some 19,000 fans on a penalty kick in the 10th minute and just seven minutes later Denmark's Daniel Wass also hit pay dirt.

Sergio Araujo found the twine in the 22nd minute to make it 2-1, and Nolito answered back in the 48th minute to give Celta a 3-1 advantage.

However, Araujo found the right combination again in the 61st minute and center-back David Simon tied things up in the 74th minute for the final result.

Celta now has 7 points, two behind frontrunner Barcelona, while Las Palmas, despite the point it salvaged in Sunday's draw, has just 2.
