Defender Cole left out of Roma's Champions League squad

Rome, Sep 3 (IANS): England international Ashley Cole may be on his way out from AS Roma as the Italian football club has left the defender out of its European Champions League squad.

Cole joined Roma from English Premier League (EPL) giants Chelsea last year but struggled to get into the starting XI, featuring in just 16 games, skysports.com reported on Thursday.

The 34-year-old does not even feature on Roma's website as one of their footballers. Roma have also roped in French international Lucas Digne from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to replace Cole.

Digne was impressive in his first game, as his side beat defending champions Juventus 2-1 last Sunday.

Midfielder Kevin Strootman, who underwent his third knee surgery in two years this week, also did not make it to the squad.
