Second round of Vento Cup at Coimbatore

Coimbatore, Sep 2 (IANS): Following an eventful first round, the JK Tyre Volkswagen Vento Cup is back with Round 2 at the Kari Motor Speedway here this weekend.

While Round 1 witnessed some amazing performances by 2010 Polo Cup champion Sailesh Bolisetti, Karminder Pal Singh and Anindith Reddy, it is Karminder who currently tops the championship table with 100 points followed by Anindith (96) and Sailesh (90).

Although Race 1 of Round 1 was dominated by Sailesh followed by Anindith and Karminder, in Race 2 Karminder took the lead followed by Anindith and Sahil. With only 10 points separating the top-3, Round 2 promises enough thrills and action.

"I am very happy to see the close competition at the top of the championship table already after the first round. This lays a good foundation for racing going into the second round," Volkswagen Motorsport India head Sirish Vissa said.

"Even the young, rookie drivers are adjusting quickly to the world of racing with such a steep learning curve. Now that the drivers have got a good feel of the race cars over an entire competitive weekend, it will be interesting to see how far the drivers take their aggression in Round 2."

The second round will take place from September 4 to 6. The weekend will consist of free practice sessions, one qualifying session and two races where the drivers will compete for championship points.
