India close to victory with Lanka at 134/5


Colombo, Sep 1 (IANS): India claimed two wickets in the first session of the fifth day's play to inch closer to a historic series win against hosts Sri Lanka, who were tottering at 134/5 in the third Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Ground here on Tuesday.

Resuming the day at 67/3, the islanders managed to add only 67 runs to the total till lunch. Captain Angelo Mathews and Kusal Perera remained unbeaten on 56 and 12, respectively.

Umesh Yadav and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bagged a wicket each for the visitors in the morning session.
