Hamburg sign Wolfsburg midfielder Hunt

Hamburg, Sep 1 (IANS): German football club Hamburg reinforced their squad with the signing of midfielder Aaron Hunt.

The 28-year-old never made the breakthrough at Wolfsburg. Thus on Monday Hunt agreed on a transfer to league rivals Hamburg where he inked a three-year deal that keeps him until June 2018 with the 'Rothosen', reports Xinhua.

"We are very glad that we were able to sign a player of this quality just before the end of the transfer window. Aaron Hunt will strengthen us and give us more stability," said Hamburg coach Bruno Labbadia.

Since his commitment at Wolfsburg in 2014 he made only 17 appearances to score two goals.

"The HSV made constant efforts to sign me. I had very good talks with Bruno Labbadia and Peter Knaebel. I am very happy that it worked out," said Hunt.

Hamburg visit Monchengladbach at the opener of the fourth round in Bundesliga on September 11.
