Zayn Malik 'smitten' with Indian Burberry model

London, Aug 30 (IANS): Former One Direction star Zayn Malik is "smitten" with Indian-origin Burberry model Neelam Gill, just a few weeks after calling it quits with his fiancee Perrie Edwards.

Malik, who dumped the Little Mix singer by a text message, met Gill here earlier this year.

Now, the model is planning to fly to Los Angeles to spend some quality time with Malik, who is renting a home there while he works on his first solo album, reported Daily Mail Online.

Gill, who was also known as Neelam Johal before taking her stepfather's name, took to micro-blogging website Twitter to post about Los Angeles on Saturday.

"To live and die in LA, it's the place to be...," she wrote.

While Gill, who was the face of last year's Burberry Prorsum campaign, and Malik first met at a studio here in March, nothing happened between them as he was still engaged to Edwards.

At the time Malik, having just left One Direction, was working with producer Naughty Boy and Gill was visiting her friends, hip-hop duo Krept and Konan, who were also recording in the building.

They later bumped into each other at the Asian Awards here in April, where Malik picked up an award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, but again nothing happened as he was still seeing Edwards.

Gill tweeted to him after the award ceremony, saying: "Congratulations on your award tonight @zaynmalik, catch up again soon!"

They are believed to have stayed in touch as friends until after Malik ended his romance with Edwards last month.
