Advani leads way into semis in snooker tourney


Chennai, Aug 29 (IANS): World 6-Red champion Pankaj Advani stormed into the semi-finals of the All-India invitational 6-Red snooker tournament with a commanding 5-1 win over Brijesh Damani, here on Saturday.

In the semi-finals Sunday morning, Advani takes on Shivam Arora who overcame Kamal Chawla 5-2, while veteran Alok Kumar, a comfortable 5-1 winner over Manan Chandra faces Lucky Vatnani who defeated Dharmendra Lilly 5-1.

The results (quarter-finals):

Alok Kumar bt Manan Chandra 5-1 (0-52, 47-19, 47-0, 39-27, 49-21, 37-0); Pankaj Advani bt Brijesh Damani 5-1 (43-9, 1-35,67-0, 34-16, 60-12, 31-23); Shivam Arora bt Kamal Chawla 5-2 (50-0, 0-65, 30-24, 1-37, 41-0, 49-0, 47-0); Luky Vatnani bt Dharmendra Lilly 5-1 (0-46, 44-12, 55-8, 39-1, 39-0, 51-6).
