Udupi, Jun 22: The camp on prospects in IAS and guidance was held at Udupi Church auditorium, organized by CAP Cell Mangalore, for the benefit of youth from 5 deaneries under Udupi Episcopal Zone, on June17. 

“Though I completed my B Com and started my career as first grade staff in administration it has taken 35 years, to be promoted as tahsildar, for me.  Had it been guidance available at that time, I would have completed 35 years of service, as tahsildar, since then” said Mary Mathias, special tahsildar in the deputy commissioner's office who was the chief guest, present at the programme.

She further said that, there lies bright future in administrative services.  Besides, it also provides an opportunity to help the poor and the needy. She appreciated the yeomen service of the organizers, as well as CAP cell, for providing proper guidance to the youngsters, in this regard.  Fr Mathew Vaz, while presiding over the function, appealed the youth, to set an ideal example to the society, by joining the in administrative services, which gives an opportunity to serve others.

Thomas D’Mello, coordinator of Kundapur ward of CAP cell said tha he had worked in Gulf for few years after serving in Indian Navy and later worked in ISRO for many years.  Moreover, he does not expect any monetary assistance from his Gulf employer, in his retirement.  "Had I not flown abroad leaving ISRO job, I too would have been entitled to retirement benefits," he added."

Joseph Cyril D’Souza, president, Catholic Sabha, under Udupi unit, said that, this camp has been advantageous to gain more knowledge.

Wilson D’Souza, Prof Steven Quadros, Prof Dr Norbert Lobo. Godfrey D’Souza, were present at the dais.
