Lahore, Aug 20: Soon to be released movie Phantom has been banned nationally in Pakistan due to the complaints registered by JuD chief Hafiz Saeed, who alleges that the movie spreads negative propaganda against him and his associates. Hafiz Saeed, is believed to be the mastermind behind the Mumbai blasts of 26/11.

The JuD chief specified in his plea to the court that his outfit is shown in very poor light and the whole movie is a 'filthy propaganda' against him. Lahore High Court judge Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan presided over the case and ruled in favour of the terrorist outfit leader. The judge however did ask the pertinent question stating, “If a movie is banned in cinemas what the government could do to stop it from being available in the market in CDs."

Saeed’s legal counsel A K Dogar said “there is a direct threat to the life of the petitioner (Saeed) and his associates emanating from the content of the trailer of the film.” He clarified the stand of his client saying, “It is obvious that dialogues coming out of the lips of the different Indian actors and actresses will poison the minds of Pakistani public and will portray Hafiz Saeed as terrorist even though JuD has not been declared as a proscribed organisation."

The Pakistan Censor Board is yet to reveal its own verdict on the film.
