Sao Paulo coach fears Pato departure

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 20 (IANS): Sao Paulo coach Juan Carlos Osorio fears Alexandre Pato will leave the club amid mounting interest for the striker in Europe.

Pato has regained his best form for Brazil's Sao Paulo this year, scoring 18 goals from 35 matches, reports Xinhua.

Among the clubs reportedly interested in signing the 25-year-old are Queens Park Rangers, Sunderland, Tottenham, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Wolfsburg.

"It's going to be a great pity of we lose Alexandre," Osorio told reporters on Wednesday.

"Right now he is a very important player for us. I hope it doesn't happen. It's going to be a big blow if he leaves."

The former AC Milan and Brazil star is currently in the final months of a two-year loan deal from Sao Paulo's Brazilian rivals Corinthians.
