Otamendi skips Valencia training, awaiting imminent departure

Valencia (Spain), Aug 17 (IANS): Argentine international footballer Nicolas Otamendi sat out the Valencia training session on Monday, as the defender was apparently waiting for his departure from the Spanish club to be finalised in the coming hours.

Saturday was Otamendi's last time on the field with the squad, while on Sunday he went to Paterna, the sports city of Valencia, but stayed indoors, reports Efe.

Valencia have been preparing for the first leg of the European Champions League qualifying round on Wednesday, when they will face Monaco at the Mestalla stadium here.

In Otamendi'a absence, Ibrahim Diallo took the field during Monday's training session.
