22-member India U-19 football squad for SAFF Championship chosen


New Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS): A 22-member India Under-19 squad was selected on Monday for the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U-19 Championship 2015 which will commence in Kathmandu from August 20.

India are pitted against Maldives and Afghanistan in Group B of the Championship.

Two teams from the group will progress into the latter stages of the Championship.

Indian colts will play their first match on August 23 against Afghanistan and against Maldives on August 25.

The squad:

Goalkeeper: Sayak Barai, Swastik Mukherjee

Defenders: Shahabaaz, Gursimrat Singh Gill, Golui Sarthak, Amit Tudu, Jerry Lalrinzuala, Prosenjit Chakraborty.

Midfielders: Kamalpreet Singh, Hayden Fernandes, Prasanth K, Japes Singh, Lalramzauva, Rohit Kumar, Lalit Tariyal, Kyntiewshaphrang Kharlukhi, AnirudhThapa, Bedashwor Singh

Forwards: Moinuddin, Daniel Lalhlimpuia, Nijwmmuchahary, Sushil Meitei

Head coach: Syed Sabir Pasha
