Mangalore, Jun 8: District Muncif and Sessions judge has awarded two years of rigorous imprisonment to two from Kustagi taluk in Koppala district and three months of punishment to one who were involved in the murder case of a marriage broker that took place in March, 2006.

The residents of Kustagi, Imam Saab and Shameeda are siblings.  Imam Saab's son Shamidar was interested in getting married to Shameeda's daughter.  But her other children Jamal, Chandu and Raju who are involved in construction work at Derebail here had opposed this.

A few days later Imam Saab along with a marriage broker Mulla Saab and village heads Dalapati and Shante Gowda had arrived with the proposal.  As the negotiations were going on Shameeda's sons had assaulted Imam Saab with stones.  At this point Mulla Saab, Dalapati and Shante Gowda intervened in order to stop the assault.

But they themselves were assaulted by the threesome.  Though Shante Gowda and Dalapati managed to escape, Mulla Saab sustained severe injuries in his head and died on his way to the hospital.

Accused Jamal Saab, Raju and Chandu were arrested and later produced in the court.  Now the court has convicted them in the case and awarded rigorous punishment.
