Udupi, Jun 6: The dangerous National Highway 17 witnessed another accident near Pangla Bridge near here on Wednesday June 6 morning as two private buses collided with each other injuring 15.

The accident occurred around 6.45 am when 'VNT Travels' (KA 19 B 9469) plying between Kollur and Guruvayoor was on its way to Kollur when Shri Devi (KA 19 B 6156) bus plying between Bellary-Mangalore collided with it near the Pangla Bridge.

It is said that accident occurred owing to the reckless driving by drivers of both the buses.  The accident resulted in road block for almost 3 hours.  All the vehicles plying between the city and Mangalore were diverted through Katpadi-Innanje-Kaup to Mangalore.  Since this too is a narrow road, it resulted in traffic jam.

As a result of the accident 15 persons have sustained injuries. Some of the injured are said to be in critical condition.

The road was cleared later with the help of locals and Kaup police.
