Mangalore: U Rajaram Mallya (86) of '555' Bar Soap Fame Passes away

Mangalore, May 28: Ullal Rajaram Mallya (86), proprietor of Mallya Soap Works, manufacturers of the renowned '555' brand washing soap, passed away at his residence on Jail Road here on Sunday, May 27.

He was a pioneer in soap-making industry in Mangalore, having had set up his unit way back in 1917. Later, he had served as president of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI), as Rotary governor, member of commercial taxes advisory committee and member of New Mangalore Port Trust.
