Mangalore, May 21: A series of accidents took place in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district on Monday May 21. A total of 5 persons died in three separate accidents on Monday.

In a Tempo-bike collision at Kuntipapu of Kalladka in National Highway 48, two persons were reported have died. The deceased persons have been identified as Vasant Gowda (36) and his father Rukmayya Gowda (56) who were riding a bike.

Sources said that the accident was occurred while bike-rider tried to overtake a rickshaw. The Tempo which was plying from the opposite side hit the bike, which resulted in the death of father and son.

Vasant Gowda, a resident of Vittal, had built a new house. The house-warming was to be on May 27. For the purposed of making some arrangements for the said function, they had been to Kalladka. The mishap took place while they were on their way back home. A case has been registered at Bantwal town police station.

Udupi Report

In a bus-car-bike accident at Hejamadi Beedu near Padubidri, one person was reported to be died and 4 persons were injured.

The deceased has been identified as Imran Katapady (35). The incident happened around 12.30 pm in the National Highway 17.

Kundapur Report

In another incident at Kandlur near Kundapur, 2 persons drowned in a river in the evening. The deceased persons have been identified as Ibrahim (23) and Saifullah of Sagar, Shimoga district.

They had been to Kandlur to attend a marriage function. After the function, they got into the river for swimming, where they drowned. Kundapur police have registered a case.

At the Tallur junction, a lorry hit a pedestrian, Narayana Poojary (50), as he was crossing the road. He was fatally injured and died in a private hospital later.
