MCC, Qatar – Singing and Instrumental Competitions

Doha, May 14: The first phase of third annual talent search, comprising of Singing and Instrumental competitions, of the Mangalore Cricket Club were held on Friday, May 11 at the Qatar Malayali Samajam. The competitions not only serve as a showcase of talents, they also provide an avenue for fellow Mangaloreans to interact with each other. The organizers were very pleased with the overwhelming response they had for the singing and instrumental competitions.

It was also heartening to see many new faces this year. The competitions, as already mentioned in our previous media releases, were open to all the Konkani speaking mangalorean community. The second and concluding phase of the competitions (dance, fancy dress and skit) will be held on Friday, May 18, 2007.

The program was opened with a welcome speech by President Norbert Corda. Gladys D'Silva, Joint Cultural Secretary said the opening prayer. Alwyn D'Souza, Cultural Secretary  introduced the judges and explained the rules of the competions. Riana Pinto, Joint Secretary emceed the program.

Eminent musicians Norbert Pereira, Rupesh D’Souza, Joyce Mascarenhas and Priya D’Souza, were the judges for this competition..

Mangalore Cricket Club takes this opportunity to thank the participants, supporters and the judges without whom the event would not have been possible.
